One of the many treacherous Lib Dems in David Cameron’s Cabinet is Business Secretary Vince Cable. A vociferous supporter of the Tory cuts, he fits right in with his posh new pals.
Today, Cable was meant to visit Oxford University as part of a series of seminars being given on ‘Lessons in Being an Evil Bastard Government’.
The Oxford Education Campaign, when they heard that such a nasty piece of work was going to come and try to teach them a thing or two, decided to protest Mr Cable and confront him about his attacks on education.
The university’s newspaper predicted that the protests would be one of the largest involving Oxford students in recent years.
So, brave and strong, firm in his opinions, Cable met with the students and represented his point of view and fought his side… wait, no he fucking didn’t. He cancelled his visit cos he was too feart of a few students waving placards.
As the Oxford Education Campaign said:
It is absolutely laughable that he should abandon his commitments due to a peaceful protest.
A government minister should have the courage to face the electorate – even those who disagree with him.
The campaigning group were joined by the President of the Oxford University Student Union, David Barclay, who said:
Vince Cable has in the past few weeks turned his back on students.
Today he has admitted that he can’t even look them in the eye. This government might want to plug its ears on University fees but Oxford students will make their voices heard.
Good on ye, Oxford students – but what does it mean for us?
This story of Cable and his cowardice tells us a lot about the power of protest.
Together, we can and we will fuck things up for the government – be they Tories and Lib Dems in Westminster, SNP in Holyrood or Labour in our local councils – and their big business pals who are profiting from our suffering. We will make things so difficult for these scumbags to operate that they have no choice to give in to our demands.
We are going to take out the bastards one by one… starting here. Are you in?
